Apart from the obvious nuisance of squirrels digging in the garden, the main problem comes
when they decide to make a nest using the insulation in your loft. They breed twice a year in
February/March and again in August/September producing three or four young each time. They
can cause enormous damage, chewing stored possessions, electric cables, roof joists as well
as creating a noise problem. It is illegal to release a grey squirrel into the wild as they are not a
native species, so the most humane way of control is a kania trap in which they are killed
instantly. This is preferable (and cheaper) to live trapping and taking to a vet for humane
dispatch and less stressful for the squirrel. We will then pest proof the property to prevent a
recurrence of the problem, materials for which are fully included in the price of the last visit.
